Job Overview
The Senior Account Director is a key Account Team member responsible for managing and growing relationships and revenue within existing accounts and developing new business opportunities. This role will act as a strategic partner, understanding their client’s needs and objectives, and will ensure that RIVE delivers projects on time and within budget. The Senior Account Director role is focused on growing revenue with 50% of efforts towards account management and 50% towards new business development.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management
- Client Management
- Establish the agency as a valued partner with assigned accounts, identifying and delivering solutions that answer the needs of the client
- Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication between agency and client
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships based on trust and mutual respect
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing their needs and concerns promptly and effectively
- Develop a deep understanding of the client’s organization, industry, target audience, and challenges
- Proactively identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and grow revenue
- Project Management
- Deliver leadership and support to each project team as needed to ensure a smooth working relationship, excellence in the delivery of services, and the meeting of all deadlines
- Ensure team members have the account background and information needed to answer the client’s needs
- Ensure team composition is appropriate to answer the client’s needs
- Ensure all key projects are delivered on time and within budget and debriefed effectively between the client and the agency
- Strategic Planning
- Develop and execute account plans that align with client’s goals and objectives
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts
- Analyze client data and market trends to provide insights and recommendations
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., production, marketing) to ensure client needs are met
- Team Leadership
- Mentor account team members and other support staff
- Delegate tasks effectively and provide guidance and support to team members
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Financial Management
- Participate in regular goal-setting meetings with the account team
- Track and analyze key performance indicators to measure account performance
- Collaborate with Executive Producers to manage project budgets to ensure profitability
- Prepare accurate and timely reports for clients and internal stakeholders
Business Development
- New Business Identification
- Conduct research to identify vertical industries that need agency services
- Identify target companies within approved vertical industries
- Identify key buyers within the target companies
- Utilize the agency network of resources to see if any relationships with the key buyers already exist within the network
- Work to develop a relationship with those key buyers
- Develop a deep understanding of the client’s organization, industry, target audiences, and business challenges
- New Business Outreach
- Assist in the marketing of the agency brand with the internal Marketing Team. Efforts may include social media, conference participation, and other networking activities.
- Ensure agency capabilities deck is impactful and persuasive
- Collaborate with the Marketing Team to update case studies as needed to keep the capes deck current
- Leverage marketing materials to support outreach activities
- New Business Response
- Review new business opportunities for appropriateness of agency response
- Facilitate a review with agency leadership to gain approval for any response
- Act as Account Team lead in the response to any approved new business opportunity
- Ensure the response team has knowledge regarding the client and the opportunity needed for a successful response
- Ensure a high-quality response is delivered that also answers the needs of the client and the needs of the agency
- Keep agency leadership informed of the progress, strategy, and costs associated with the response
- Assist in the closing of the deal
- Work to ensure a smooth transition of the project to the project team
Skills / Requirements
- Agency experience preferred. This individual has a proven track record of success in account management and sales, including pitching and winning new business.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients.
- Must be proficient in Google Workspace. HubSpot experience preferred.
